This TAFE covers a diverse area which ranges from the city of Wollongong in the North along the South Coast and all the way to Bega and the Snowy Mountains.
Spectacular beaches with good surf meet tranquil bays while the hinterland boasts ancient rainforest and rolling hills. The rugged region of the Australian Alps offers a unique alpine landscape and also features the country’s highest mountain, Mt. Kosciuszko at 2.228 metres.
The 14 campuses of Illarwarra Institute are located in the following towns of south-eastern New South Wales:
- Moss Vale
- Wollongong West
The main campus is Wollongong while the other locations vary in size and facilities. The conveniences include computer laboratories, libraries and canteens just to name a few. All amenities aim at generating a friendly and productive learning atmosphere for the students.
Each year more than 40.000 students choose the services of Illawarra Institute.

Beside that the Illawarra region has a lot to do, especially if you like the outdoors. All sorts of water-based activities are possible along the magnificent coastline. Countless beaches invite the sun seeker. Hyams Beach is even reported to have the whitest sand in the whole world.
In the Snowy Mountains hiking and biking are big in summer. During the colder time of the year (July to September) the slopes are calling.
