Australian-Arabian Relations

Arab-Australian push to target children
The new chairwoman of the Council of Australian-Arab Relations, Pru Goward, says that the council is working on practical measures to enhance understanding of the Arab world by
all Australians.

Ms Goward, who attended her first official public function last night, believes that both
parties must make a concerted effort to understand each other. In particular, she
highlighted Australian schoolchildren’s understanding of the Arab world.

“We’re developing a project for Australian schoolchildren that’s in the very early days but the idea of it is to introduce them to the diversity of the Arab world, says Ms Goward.

“We’re also looking at an ambassador’s program – we’ve got a huge Diaspora of Australians
working in the Middle East, we’d like to equip them to be ambassadors for Australia”.
