The Institute was formed as recently as 1998 when three existing TAFEs joint forces. Situated in the south-east of the Melbourne region, Chisholm Institute today educates more than 36.000 students per year. Being located in one of the fastest growing areas of Australia has had its effects on the TAFE. Education in accordance to the needs of the local economy is one of the major goals. Aside from the personal and academic development of each student, strong bonds to industrial companies of the area remain high on the agenda.

The campuses are spread throughout an extensive region in the south-east of Melbourne. The area is home to en ever-growing population of over 600.000 people as well as some leading industrial companies.

This location makes all the comforts of the Melbourne metropolitan area easily accessible. The bustling nightlife of the city, with spots like St. Kilda, affordable cuisine in Chinatown, spectacular museums and excellent shopping can be reached using the public transport system.

While it rarely gets too hot during summers, wintertime in Victoria can be rather cold, with ample rainfall.

Chisholm Institute of TAFE features a network of seven campuses throughout the region. These are:

  • Bass Coast
  • Berwick
  • Cranbourne
  • Dandenong
  • Frankston
  • Noble Park
  • Rosebud

Frankston as the largest campus is home to 30 percent of the student population.
To generate a productive learning atmosphere and help each student to achieve personal goals, the campuses are equipped with a wide range of modern facilities. Computer laboratories, allowing internet access, stand along up-to-date libraries. Bistros and canteens can be found on every campus as well as some nice places to spend spare time.

The TAFE attracts about 36.000 students every year, more than 600 of these from countries all around the globe.

Acclaimed museums and galleries throughout the city cater for the cultural appetite.
