As a result of the merger of the Goulburn Valley and the Wangaratta Institutes of TAFE, in 1996 the Goulburn Ovens Institute of TAFE was established. Today it services a large rural area in northern Victoria and provides vocational training and education to some 15.000 students.
The campuses of the Goulburn Ovens Institute of TAFE are spread throughout a region known as the Goulburn Valley. Around the major city of Shepparton large areas are used for agricultural and horticultural undertakings. Among other things, some high quality wine is produced in the region. To the south the slopes of the Great Dividing Range loom and invite for some outdoor activities while in the north, close to the border with New South Wales, the mighty Murray River flows.
There are a total of five campuses for the students to choose from. These are located in:
The Shepparton campus is the largest and houses the administration, as well as video-conference-facilities and child-care-services. All campuses feature the comforts and technical facilities that create a relaxed and intellectually stimulating atmosphere. At Dookie a commercial vinery offers unique learning experiences.
Every year about 15.000 students decide to study at Goulburn Institute of TAFE. Many of these hail from countries around the globe.
